We are still working to identify the issues impacting on water quality here.  Desk based assessments suggest that forestry or septic tanks may be issues here however this will only be known once assessments have been carried out in the catchment. When our work programme in the PAA is complete, you will be able to view a summary of our findings using the link to the right under AFA report. This was followed by a farmers information meeting held by the Agricultural Sustainability Support Advisor (ASSAP) over Zoom in late 2020. The Catchment Scientists have been working within the Nadreegeel Priority Area for Action (PAA) gathering information on the quality of the water, by looking at the insects and nutrient levels within the rivers. Preliminary findings are indicating that nutrients and sediments are the main issue within the Nadreegeel particularly along the main river channel. Additionally, high nutrients have also been recorded in the inflowing tributaries to Lacken Lake. The issue with nutrients within the catchment are mainly due to the types of soils found within the catchment, which are wet in nature, causing nutrients to be lost overland, particularly after heavy rainfall. Referrals are currently being drafted for the ASSAP advisor working in the area. The ASSAP advisors hope to be working in the waterbody over the next few months to address the issues identified. 11/03/2024.\r\n","PlanReportExists":true,"GeometryExtent":"251780,287840,259980,300480","Cycle":"CI000001","Type":1}]}
